no one can tell where their influence stops"

This page offers information on a variety of tech tools in hopes to encourage further use of technology in the classroom. During this unprecedented time, learning how to use these tools is essential in student learning. These tutorials are meant to aid teachers in learning online. We encourage you to watch these tutorials with your students to help them better understand what they are using and why it can help them learn. Also included are lessons showing how you can incorporate MakerSpace/STEM tools into your instruction. With any questions regarding this information or video tutorials please feel free to contact me. If you have a tutorial you believe would contribute to this page or a lesson you would like to share, please reach out to me at [email protected].

NYS Ed Law 2D
Before Using any resources with your students, make sure you are complying with Ed Law2D.
If you use any "free" site/app that collects any personal identifiable info on students you can not use that unless we have a signed agreement with the vendor. If you do then you're in violation of Ed Law 2D. Each site/Vendor will have a privacy policy that states what info they collect. Just google the site/app and privacy policy and that will come up.
Below is what they can not collect:
"PROTECTED STUDENT DATA: The term “student” refers to any person attending or seeking to enroll in an educational agency, and the term “personally identifiable information” (“PII”) uses the definition provided in FERPA. The term PII includes, but is not limited to:
Student Name • Parent Names • Student ID Num • Student Email • Student Address • Student Photos • Video of Students • Student Birthdate • Student Medical Information • Special Education Information • Other indirect identifiers • Information that, alone or in combination, would allow a reasonable person to identify the student"
You can use sites that collect no personal student info or allow you to put in Nicknames for you students. If they will allow that then you're fine to use it.
You can use any software we purchase through BOCES. BOCES does the leg work and gets everything they sell as a service up to date and Ed Law 2D compliant.
You can use any software purchased through Caz that we have an agreement with.
